In my first encounter with Damian's work I was struck by the power, beauty and melancholy of his paintings. Our subsequent engagement with him to paint a portrait of my wife, was a truly pleasurable, collaborative experience and the finished product, proof of a wonderfully gifted artist.

Commissions

My approach to commissions is very simple. It has been designed to ensure that the subject’s time is taken into consideration and allows flexibility in reaching the desired outcome.

There are four stages in the creation of the painting:

Stage 1

An initial meeting will take place to discuss your ideas and expectations for the painting. During the meeting a series of photographs will be taken. I will review the photographs, together with you, to create a short list. You will then have a period of time with the shortlist to make your final selection for the portrait.

Stage 2

On selection of the chosen photograph, an initial painted sketch, roughly outlining the composition and colour palette to be used in the painting, will be created. This will be sent to you for your approval. If a drawing has been commissioned a rough outline sketch will be provided.

Stage 3

Once the sketch has been approved the painting will begin. Timeframes will vary depending on the size of the final piece. Regular updates will be sent to you throughout the process.

Stage 4

On completion of the painting or drawing, arrangements for the piece to be framed can be made, at an additional cost. I take pride in delivering the piece of work, in person, at a time and place convenient to you.

I would seek to discuss the appropriate approach for your bespoke commission and based on our conversations and your personal requirements provide a personalised quotation before commencing the work.
